Lorie and I went upstate (NY) yesterday for my birthday and spent the day snow shoeing and cross-country skiing. Fun! ❄️☀️🌲 As we did so, we were on the lookout for a black spruce tree. We didn’t find one, but we did find a spruce (I think a Norway) and visited with it for while. Lorie asked me what I felt in the trees company and what was most apparent to me was how generative it was … covered in cones … and the tracks in the snow made clear that lots of little critters had also been visiting this tree for one reason or another. Lorie commented on this generosity of resource the tree provides throughout the winter months. Lorie also commented that the tree felt strongly rooted to its place, like it was at ease and comfortable in its skin living where it was. We’re still working with the oil, and look forward to hearing/reading more about the experiences you are all having.
