Great question – how to measure success with labour prep is a golden question!
We will go more into labour prep and our different approaches in a separate module but it is a strong thread that unites the MAMPS founders – we all found using the ‘forbidden points’ we were taught to induce labour was not the most useful approach – just stimulating contractions did not ensure a efficient physiological birth!
Claudia of course has gone to write more details about this in her excellent book and Kate has a website devoted to labour preparation as well as having set up research to demonstrate what is possible with antenatal preparation – which she is going to discuss with us in more detail as part of next months journal club.
What labour prep really looks like in clinical practice and how we asses our impact on birthing is a long discussion with many moving parts and TCM aspects but fundamental to what we want practitioners on this course to discuss – will start next month with some case histories as part of our main topic for May !
