I watched Moana again for the first time in years, this time with a whole new lens. Are all of the characters in that movie archetypes that live within us? The explorer/warrior following her call, the arrogant ego avoiding responsibility, the grandmother/divine spirit guiding us, the fear telling us not to go beyond the shore, the rage we experience when there is trauma or injustice, the goddess who needs her heart to be returned to its rightful place. It was so much fun to watch this time and my daughter enjoyed it more too now that she’s older. If you watch it again I’d love to hear your thoughts!
