Biography

Honu’s path with bodywork started in Colorado with the introduction of massage therapy and other holistic modalities. Throughout her 15-year career as a bodyworker, she studied Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Craniosacral Therapy, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Ashiatsu, Ayurvedic Bodywork, and Reiki. Her experience as a bodyworker lends itself naturally to Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. She holds certificates as a Hatha Yoga instructor and a Kundalini Yoga instructor. Her 18+ years of walking her own inward path through meditation, self-reflection, bodywork, and contemplation allow for a deeper understanding of what her clients seek from a physician.

Merging science, esoteric practices, traditional Chinese medicine, animism, meditative breathwork, yogic principles, and bodywork, she tailors a healing protocol that best suits your current needs. Honu utilizes cupping therapy, gua sha, TCM acupuncture, Esoteric Acupuncture, lifestyle coaching, guided meditation, supplementation, and herbal remedies.

Honu graduated with a Doctorate’s Degree in Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Her program was unique, in that it encouraged specialization in modalities that complement the already brilliant path of Eastern Medicine. Her studies brought her to England + Seattle to mentor alongside Lillian Pearl Bridges, founder of Lotus Institute and seventh-generation Taoist Face Reader. She traveled to Ireland + Colorado to heal and learn from Celtic Shamanic Practitioners. She devoted two years to a research-based doctorate program and learned different acupuncture techniques throughout her training. Her education and experience are vast. She is thrilled to be working with the other practitioners at the Art of Acupuncture in sunny and progressive Saint Petersburg, Florida.

She is the daughter of a Navy Veteran, is also Navy Veteran herself, and has lived all over the country and in Japan. She hails from Craig, Alaska, and part of her will always feel at home in expansive + wild Alaska. She is a co-parenting mother of 2 teenagers and believes that counseling them on the most simple and effective healing techniques will carry on with them beyond her active parenting years. She has called Saint Petersburg home for the last 7 years and has an acre of land where she grows all the tropical fruits, gardens, has monthly fire ceremonies, swims in her salt pool, and spends hours on end in the art of contemplation. Honu is a gypsy at heart and travel is a core passion. She is one of the last ‘pen-palers’ out there, has been through her own incredible healing journey, enjoys ritual, and needs to be outside much of the day.

She has been studying under fertility specialist Hillary Talbot (www.ladypotions.com) and learning her ways for the past year. She is part of a supportive female-run Acupuncture practice at the Art of Acupuncture. Honu currently works with women seeking to conceive; she is honored and excited to be part of this mentorship.
