Hi everyone, I’m Kari and live in Chandler Arizona. I practice women’s health and focus on perinatal and postpartum care. I want to deepen my understanding and have been seeking a mentorship for fertility. I’ve been practicing for 10 years focusing on reproductive health for the past 6. I love learning and know that this program will support me in my growth. Excited to learn from you all.

Thank you Susan for sharing your experience. My schedule is similar, I’m in clinic 3 days a week and the other two I’m free to fill this place with home visits if needed. I guess I don’t technically need a doula certification but I know it would be nice to have. I’ll have to gauge how I can better support families. I’ll have to check out your book recommendation. And yes, I’m so grateful for MAMPs resources. 😀

I would definitely do Gua Sha w/ bleeding on her to release the tension and clear heat. It’s often my go to in these situations for quick relief. I would introduce that as an option to her. I’m glad to hear that she’s seeking out a support group, it can be emotionally taxing to feel crummy all the time.

I will reach out to her later this afternoon to see how her midwife appointment went. I understand that traditionally (outside of pregnancy) avoidance of food for a few days and being on a liquid diet is encouraged to give a rest to the gallbladder and reduce inflammation, but it’s a different scenario in pregnancy. I’ll send an update as I touch base with her later today.

Thank you. I tried looking for this on my phone this morning and couldn’t find it, but I do see it on my laptop.

Thank you Sarah and Brodie for your responses. I’m starting to see some correlation between cesarean and / or fertility patients experiencing this challenge with milk production. Definitely need to speak and address this earlier on in their pregnancy to prepare for postpartum: Supporting qi,blood, and possibly any underlying ki qi deficiencies.

I used only one set of ear points (right ear) before we had Joan on a call. I didn’t know there were 2 different sets.
But I Wanted to share: Multip 2nd pregnancy, OB wanted to put her on insulin her fasting glucose was over 100 in the morning. Very mindful of high fat diet.Read Lily Nichols GDiabetes in Pregnancy Book (highly recommend) She has a glucometer and before I did her acupuncture session her Freading was 104, she had a snack at 10am, had acupuncture at 11, finished by noon and her following reading after was 98. I’m unsure if that’s remarkable because it’s a log of only one morning and it’s a two hour window from the last time she ate, but I thought it was neat to test in the clinic prior to and right after acupuncture. I look forward to doing this with other clients.

Pulses: Slippery and had a full quality, unsure if choppy?
*I apologize pulses are not my forte!

Thank you for sharing this. I’m not familiar with Tung points, but am excited to try it with sciatic and LBP.

Hi Ciara, I have a few pelvic floor specialists that I know that I refer to for clients that want an additional resource for breech or SPD; I let the therapist determine if it’s a good fit or not if cases are high risk. But only refer to these practitioners that specialize for prenatal/postpartum care.

Thank you Renee for sharing your experience. I am going to probably tack on a commute fee to the follow up charges, but will have to play around with travel radius, etc. I agree with you, the IBCLC portion of training would be amazing to have when in the home.
