  • What a wonderful live example of the power of the PAUSE! Thank you so much Kari, for sharing it here as we begin our transition from this platform … that has been our alchemical virtual “home” over the past year … to new places of connection, communication and sharing. It is a perfect segue to the next chapter chapter of Practice at the Crossroads … reminding us all that transitions (completions, new beginnings of cycles and experiences) are times of both crisis and opportunity, times when the Power of the PAUSE is amplified by outer and inner energies.

So so good that you brought this wisdom to bear on your windy afternoon walk with Kenneth and that you brought it here to all of us … a gift and a reminder! And deeply appreciated 🙏🏽

I like your musing, Kari! The truth is we really cannot ever know exactly what the ancient sages meant at the time of the writing of the texts or when the wisdom was orally transmitted. But, from my perspective, you are on track with your thinking around this issue … that the “one point” was a potent spirit point.

In my own clinical experience, when I have cleared all immediate blocks (A.E., Dragons, Eight Extra, and / or structural issues), and I really am on track as far as Elemental issue (constitution or at least, what is present in the moment), I can get a total pulse harmonization and full body/soul/spirit qi shift with just one point. I emphasize that this isn’t every and it usually takes preliminary work to get there but it definitely is possible and something to remember when we think we need to do more treatment or more needles after we have already affected a shift.

Thanks for continuing to ponder, Kari! 🙏

So good to read this post from you, Lucy! Thank you for sharing the podcast suggestion as well as this beautiful description of your neidan: your inner work with your own prima materia. I love this description of your alchemical process:

I am plucking out that weed and making room for more growth. I am replacing it with the cure-all of Love and Acceptance.

It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know you and work with you over the past year. I have been inspired and challenged by your questions and observations and deeply touched by your devotion to our medicine. I look forward to continuing to explore Alchemical Healing with you as your practice develops and unfolds!

Yes, Lucy! I appreciate your careful listening! Truly, I needle left to right in almost all my treatments because that is how I was taught. The intention with left to right insertion accompanied by the clockwise turn for needle stimulation is tonification of qi. After 40 years of practice, it is in my body and that is how I proceed.

Dragons on the other hand is a clearing (we could say “sedating”) treatment. We definitely do not want to tonify these pernicious influences! Needling right to left with a counter-clockwise needle turn is a Five Element Sedation Needle Technique.

Again, this is how I was taught. Given the diversity of approaches and traditions in our medicine, other people may follow a different technique for tonification and sedation but I would ask that you all follow the protocol that I learned from Professor J.R.Worsley for at least a year without changes. That is a way to receive the transmission and honor the legacy!

Deeply touched and moved by this writing, Babbi. I am taking it all in especially in light of earlier pieces you have shared. This is potent, courageous and worthy work … inner work that I believe is the prerequisite for outer change and healing of the culture.

There will be more on this conversation as our work unfolds. For now, thank you for being willing to share your process with us.

Anita! Thank you for sharing this amazing follow-up story. Lillian’s background support of your work makes total sense so me. It is a testament to my belief that “the Tao has our back” if we are sincere and dedicated to our work in the treatment room.

You have done a beautiful job of bringing these three cases to life for us. I appreciate how you are bringing the tools of the mentorship into your practice in such a wide variety of ways. I love how you are using the Golden Keys as well as deep listening and AE. It makes me very happy to read your words:

I feel like because I drew my boundaries with the one case and its ok to go slow, it created a space for the other patient!

    Good work!

I am not able to do justice to clinical supervision for all three of these cases here on the platform however, I will say that you are doing deep and beautiful work. Of course, if you do feel the need for more in-depth support with these or other cases, I am available for individual case supervision any time but for now, I say, be patient and stay with it! The alchemy is happening !

Beautiful, @tcmlucy ! I love how you bring in the idea of Qing 清 Clear/Clarity or Pure/Purity as a virtue of the Lungs. I also get how Qing 清 as Water+Sprout+Moon resonates with the Lung’s function of keeping waterways clear, dispersing the clear fluids (as well as clearly knowing / respecting our own limits and boundaries). The subtext reference in the character to the Metal Element’s lunar light is also validating. And certainly the text you cite, Maoshing Ni’s translation of the Su Wen, is an impeccable source, so we do have to factor this interpretation into this conversation.

I understand your longing for confirmation regarding the teachings you were given as well as the desire to have a firm grasp on what is the absolute “truth” that has been handed down through the generations. I also totally resonate with your sense that the virtues are core teachings with much embedded wisdom. But I propose that what may ultimately be even more precious than “confirming the truth” is the ongoing sincere exploration and respectful conversation between practitioners, contemplatives, researchers and scholars who care so deeply about this tradition that we spend our lives in devotion to it! For me, this ongoing study and conversation is what keeps the medicine alive and vital as opposed to rigid and antiquated. And it is one of the salient features of the medicine that it has been flexible yet durable enough to morph and mutate over thousands of years and a vast variety of cultures and geographies.

So much has already come of this one dialogue regarding the virtue of Metal, such a deepening of our understanding … I trust that we are honoring not only the great legacy of the sages and physicians of the past but also carving new streams of wisdom for those who follow in our own footsteps as we continue to bring the treasures of the past into the future!

Thank you, Lucy, for your sincerity and dedication to this medicine! It is a pleasure to explore with you 🌟

Judy … so good to hear from you!

I am glad to know that you listened to the recording of our Metal Class and that you took some good new understandings away from it. I totally agree with your insight that smoking is often used as a coping tool to suppress grief. I’ve seen that again and again in my own practice. I have also found that it is helpful for people to have that understanding for themselves, particularly as part of the process of letting go of smoking addiction as a coping strategy.

Also, thank you so much for your redemption of the Miller’s Daughter! I hadn’t reviewed the tale before the class and it isn’t one I have studied and metabolized in some time so the plot line was a bit hazy. The bit I clearly always remember is Rumpelstiltskin’s chant. The magical power of “naming of the devil” is the part of the tale that I particularly wanted to bring forward during the discussion as well as the idea that our demons will ultimately reveal their own name if we are cunning, determined and sincere in our efforts to catch sight of them. Nonetheless, now that you have reminded me of the complexity and wisdom of the story as a whole, I’m going back in to get the details!

And @Alice that was an easy mix-up but at least you remembered that there was a lie at the center of the bargain!

Bottom line, this is a great reminder of the depth of meaning embedded in fairy tales, the significance of the details and why it is worth our while to spend time with these archetypal stories!

I totally hear you, Anita, and thank you for sharing your own experience. I like what you say here:

well I didn’t know what I didn’t know yesterday and today I have this information, and I can see similarities to other ideologies well I didn’t know what I didn’t know yesterday and today I have this information, and I can see similarities to other ideologies

and also you reflection about “getting to the place of benevolence.”

I think it is important to honor the depth and difficulty of this work but also its necessity and ultimately, the gifts it offers us as individuals and as members of a multi-dimensional cosmos.

I so appreciate your devotion to this work, Anita, as well as your honesty about its challenges. Despite your hesitations, I would say you are in your “original nature” when it comes to alchemical healing 😉

Dear Christine 💗 Whew! I feel both the trepidation and the excitement as you open your heart to this new possibility. I also feel the “rightness” of the decision for you to come out of your Capricornian solitude and step into your capacity for leadership, transformational organization and new challenges at this time / juncture in your life. The Ace of Pentacles affirms that you have the potency of magic and change you need to make this transition.

We are here to support you so please keep us posted as this new chapter of your life unfolds!
