Hi Ethel. Thanks for sharing these graphic pictures of Lou collateral pathology. We had a great discussion in the first office hours about your case. I got to thinking of how marginalized populations (people of color, immigrants, undocumented) as well as those with established socialized roles (women are caregivers for ill family members often coupled with working full-time) may also have Lou pathology given the need to persevere with ongoing daily trauma amidst socialized expectations and minimal resources.

This was a great week-long trauma course! Thank you for sharing Ethel. Gabor Mate is one of the primary sources for trauma having experience with childhood development ( highly influenced by his own experience as a Hungarian Jew during the holocaust), family medicine, palliative care, and addiction medicine in Vancouver (which has one of the highest concentrations of intravenous substance users in North America). His book In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts is enlightening and posits that we are all on the addiction spectrum and are only differentiated between our soother of choice (food, gambling, work, sex, drugs) and where we are on the continuum.

Hi. I will be turning 62 and have practiced as a hospice and palliative care RN for the last 30 years. Over the last 7 years, I have taken deep dives into trauma and spiritual leaders throughout the world. I firmly believe we under-diagnosis and treat trauma, and it permeates our everyday lives, including vicarious trauma that we as providers come into contact with. That being said, it is imperative that we know our own biases, filters, lenses, and need to ground ourselves to continue to do good work. I graduated with my degree in 2018 and have one more board exam that is not wanting to come to fruition due to rescheduling with COVID issues at the testing center and the recent death of my father (a huge source of trauma). I appreciate Yvonne’s wisdom and willingness to share her experiences and stories so we can grow as a profession. I am really drawn to the five element and Taoist perspective of TCM although I was trained classically. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone.

    Best, Melinda

Hello again. All of the CEUs came through except for the 4/25/21 one. I’ve checked my past e-mails but I don’t see it there. How do I go about getting that certificate? Thanks so much

Disregard the prior e-mail as the CEUs dropped into my mailbox right after I completed the eval.:)

Thank you for the clarification Lorianne. I have completed the evals. Do the PDAs/CEUs come from NCCAOM since I am not licensed yet but still would like to receive CEUs?

I tried submitting the second case study per your directions, but the system won’t allow me to do it as it is marked ‘complete’ and there is no link I can attach anything to. Suggestions? Thanks for your help.
